The picture of the shorts shows them at 1/2 battery-power. They started out the day as a very bright shocking neon orange. By 10 that evening they were a dullish gray plaid in color.

Ah, the turquoise is a much darker color. Thanks for posting Jdog! Steve Wood("86kubicki")'s already posted a 381 in Blue Boy(that was formerly owned by Mitch Easter) on another thread, so I can clearly see the difference between the two.

SWEET! Thanks John. I really like the Blue Boy and Sea green finishes on a Rickenbacker. Quite a different look from the more traditional JG or FG. I think I'm going to have to look for a 381 in one of those two finishes. I haven't been able to put down my 381/6 since I got it back from the luthier's.

There was a Blue Boy 381 on eBay about a month ago. It was one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it auctions. Lasted only a few minutes with a $3000 BIN.

Unfortunatley, many of the Blue Boy guitars (including said 381 and especially the ones made in '05 and '06) have turned to a mint green. Most people around here don't seem to mind them, but it's gotta be the blue ones for me. Both of the above are true blue.

...and my own '04 325/12 and Bob's '99(?) 700C remain blue.

I just refinished a blemmed 360/6 in BB, and in matching the paint found it had drifted toward green a bit; not obvious until you hold it up next to a fresh one.

I shoulda jumped on the Ocean-Turquoise--Glo 360-12 but I can't jump two ways at the same time.

Oddly enough, I think RIC's Sea Green finish much more closely resembles actual turquoise than RIC's Turquoise finish.

I suppose you mean the actual semiprecious stone, but even there you see variations...and here we get back into the issue of color semantics.

There are a range of colors which fit the "turquoise" moniker, and both "Sea Green" (a solid color; very close to the '56 T-Bird color) and "Turquoise" (a subtler, deeper, grayer, pearlescent hue which is more contemporary), fit the bill.

Years ago, designers began working on color standards in an attempt to minimize the labelling nightmare and facilitate communication. Munsell, CCA, SOM (for architecture) and Pantone are all systems that have been used, with Pantone being dominant today. These all describe colors with numbers, not names.

Pick Of The Ricks had a beautiful new Turquoise 360 at the Boston Guitar show last month. It was hard to walk away from that one. Just a beautiful guitar.
