Umm, why me?!?! Did i say i wanted a section of my own? I simply am dreaming about a section dedicated to punk and 60s garage rock, and i don't really care who would lead it (but "Sheena's garage" would sound cool, i must admit
— well, insert any other name and it would still sound cool).
Every thread would degenerate into a "That's not punk, this is punk" or "Iggy did it better" argument.
Naah, i don't think so. What i was imagining in my head was a place where punk could be discussed in a civilized way. Like, "Dear colleague, i think you're not correct while calling Johnny Rotten an orifice in a body part which is below the back. I'd rather say, he's been such a generous person and took a really good care of his mother". Or something like that.
Here we go: Paul Simonon of the Clash used a Rick bass in the early days before he switched to a P Bass and started using it as a sledgehammer.

As I recall, he thought it sounded "lightweight".

Glenn Mattlock also used a Rickenbacker.

Actually, an entire genre, arguably spanning 35+ years, might be a little less limited than a forum about a band that only existed for 6 years.

I'm all for a punk section. Plenty of Ricks and Rick oriented bands from the genre. As long as we have a good moderator present and accounted for. I'd volunteer for that gig.
...and I'm all for calling it Sheena's Garage, too!!

(but i'm still being pessimistic — i doubt it will ever happen... maybe in some other life or in some other place and with some other Sheena...)
Actually, an entire genre, arguably spanning 35+ years, might be a little less limited than a forum about a band that only existed for 6 years.
35+ years only?! Some say it was born in the 60s (40+ then), some say that the first punk "anthem" (covered by quite a few from the genre) was "I fought the law", and it was written in late 50s... some also say Mozart was a punk rocker (heh-heh), and some say it was the first music genre ever born on Earth
("tribal dance is punk rock!").

I am not sure if people are not assuming things that were not true about Sid Vicious. He didn't play on the album, at times (later) he was too baked to play, but I saw the video of the Sex Pistols US tour and the bass playing seemed fine from what I remember. I am not saying he was as technical as Matlock, but to say he was completely incapable of playing does not seem right.
