OK, I almost choked. That line up would have been incredible around 1985.

My band played a gig with the band that would become Motley Crue (had 2 members, methinks).
First time I'd ever seen debauchery in person (only witnessed, did not partake mind you..)
For that alone it is one of my favorite concerts.

I have to say that Iron Maiden was pretty kick @$$ Wednesday night at the Forum in LA. The Powerslave stage setup was so cool.

celtic frost in the mid 80's ? very nice !! and those guys have not let up one bit. i've listened to "monotheist" a few times, when i'm up to the task, and when it's over i feel like i need a nap. not because i've been bored, on the contrary but simply because i feel like i've been on an exhaustive journey. one minute tom g.'s caressing the back of your bag and the next minute he's kicking it. hard !! kinda like a 24hr ingmar bergman '70's era film fest.

They did let up a tad at one point. I don't even have it anymore because I was so disgusted at the time but wasn't "Cold Lake" a sort of "hair metal" album? I like some hair metal bands but for Tom G. and his cohorts it seemed a big unnatural turn and I lost interest in the band soon after. After hearing them a few times again on Sirius I rediscovered some of their cooler work but have avoided "Cold Lake" again.

i hear ya on "cold lake" but i still love it. it still echoes enough from "into the pandemonium", which IMHO is the greatest metal/art album ever. i like everything about it.
from that beautifully brutal wacken show -
