Did any of John Entwistle's basses sell for over $100k?
No. Frankenstein sold for about $50,000. Stu Cook has had his 1966 Rickenbacker 4001 up for sale for some time now with no takers. I can't think of anything else over $50K. What this current seller is placing so much value on is the first year production of a burns bass guitar. There appears to be a very small interets in these and no supporting forums, but I guess he's hell-bent.

I really like Stu's bass, but it's hard to justify the price despite the provenance. I'd like to have it simply on basis of it being a '66.....

Wow, a square heel on a '66 bass.....
That is very interesting.....even though it looks a bit funky, I bet it sounds cool with that p/up configuration.

I'm sure is does, John. I assume Stu did that back then as it was a very 60's thing to make changes, plus he switched over to a Fender shortly after.

IIRC, this Burns bass was claimed to be the one that was "used" during Revolver. It looks like someone lifted the pix from somewhere else.

Good work, Kevin! How could anyone have had any such inkling with such a dense description! That's why they are lazy criminals!

Is it just me, or does it look like the bass was intentionally "reliced"? The front looks flawless, and the back has a pattern that looks like sanding off the edges?
