I've got 3 pre-scats on my '90 340/6...never measured their exact output, though. The guitar has a great rock 'n' roll tone

I envy you owning a PT, Simon!

How does "My Generation" sound on that baby?

Have any of you members of the "pre scat" club ever done any mixing of 12ks WITH 7.4ks on one guitar? Results? How do 12ks sound with the
Jbox or other pedals?

I had them on my former '97 360V64. I thought they sounded great. Too bad so many people have unwound them to the lower spec.

Three rockin' pre-scats (and more importantly a great excuse for finally learning how to upload photos on this Forum

)

I have two RICs with the 12K Toasters. One is a 370/12 McGuinn (1990) and the other is a 1996 360/12V64. Both guitars sound great. The V64 Toasters seem to be hotter (louder output) than the McGuinn's. The McGuinn sounds best with the built-in compressor set to max which gives a treble boost as well as nice compression. The V64 sounds fabulous with my newly acquired JangleBox compressor.
I also have a newer 360/12 (2007) with the 7.4K toasters, which also sound great. I prefer the 12K toasters because they sound meatier, have better bass response on the lower string pairs, especially on the A and low E string pairs. Eventhough the 12K's have a better bass response, the treble and jangle still shine through with brilliance and clarity.
To sum it up.....long live the 12K Toasters !!!

Sounds awesome Jake...always kick off with that and "Cant Explain" to check the AC30 settings

I have a 360V64/6 with 12k toasters (actually 11k) and a 360/12 with 7.4k toasters. That's what works for me. IMO, the hi-gain toasters sound great on a 6-string Rickenbacker but not that great on a 12-string. I played another 360 6-string with 7.4k toasters and it sounded kind of wimpy, but that could be just because I'm used to the sound of my guitar. It did sound a little brighter than mine, which is good, but it was also a little thinner. I personally feel that the "shortcomings" of either version can be over come by amp settings. I'd rather have the extra gain and turn up the treble if I need to. My 360V64/6 through my Vox AC30 sounds like a million bucks - jangly, twangy, and beefy!

Sweet guitars, Paul. Welcome to the Forum
BTW, for anyone looking for that triple pre-scat sound in their next guitar, there's a '90 340/6VP for sale at Rumble Seat. Uncommon finish - I kinda like it - but the price might be a tad steep IMHO.
