I was once told by a member here (who will remain anonymous), "Everything has a price on it." but after hearing Tony Cabibe's story about how he turned down his 4001CS for a pretty serious offer (more about that from Tony, over to you, Tony), that made me think, "The ones you love the most, you'll never get rid of"

I would NEVER sell or trade this guitar for any price (unless, in that trade, you had one exactly like it or better, along with a 21-fret neck new style 360/12 in MG, then I'd have to ponder your offer for a really long time to the point where you say, "Forget it"). I've been through two before it, and this one is simply the best. It's my go-to guitar, and I've been pretty satisfied guitar-wise since I got it. I can't thank Ron O'Keefe enough for supplying it to me.

It's no question for me simply because I only have one bass that's even in an upper tier category.

I'm too cheap to buy another to my liking (I seriously want some sort of 400x in FL and solid coloring). I won't get rid of this awfully tight 5er for anything simply because I have grown accustomed to how it feels and it's my second "first" after mistakenly leaving music, selling all my gear including my true first Ric (4003MG) behind after college and going on a hiatus for 15 years or so.

I'd love to get that one back but I don't even know the s/n and the store I bought it new from isn't returning my calls.

That would be another one I wouldn't be selling if I ever got it back.

What's your I'd-never-get-rid-of-it-EVER Ric? And what, barring an emergency, would you sell/trade it for?

The only Rick I have, my 360/12 fireglo. I can't imagine another guitar, or anything else that I'd sell it or trade it for. I saved too long, and knew when I ordered it that that model was (at the time) the only electric I was ever seriously interested in.

Right now my '08 4003 JG (because it feels so darn perfect) and my 4004L 4-2-5 Mark Gilbert converted and sold to me. That last one is, I swear, not only the most perfect sounding, most versatile, most punchy Rick I have ever owned, it is all of that for ANY bass I have owned. I cringe at even removing all the smudges for fear of ruining the tone on that one. Simply the most perfect bass I've owned in 28 years of playing.

Perfect in every way, and the new jewel of the collection!

As I've said before, my 1995 4001CS LE.

It's in my will to be left to my daughter.

I turned down 10K at one time for that baby, when I could have used the funds too.

The ONLY thing I can ever see parting with it for is a body part for a loved one!

My 1988 V63 is a close second, but doesn't have the HOOK in my lke my CS does.
