From my cold dead hands

Post by kennyhowes »

As brought up by Collin elsewhere:
collin wrote:You should know as well any anybody, Mr. Howes----there is always something or another worthy of ripping even the most prized posessions out our hands, when it really comes down to it.
...which I don't neccessarily think is true. I know, for example, that my workhorse '89 red 330 is never a trade-in candidate. My lightshow, my Comstock...no way, and I've had offers. Then there's my experience with getting back my old 370/12, which is the only Ric I ever actively sought to get back, and I've been buying and selling for a long time.

What's your I'd-never-get-rid-of-it-EVER Ric? And what, barring an emergency, would you sell/trade it for?

All the ones I own right now are pretty safe for various reasons, but the serious "cold, dead hands" one is da v68, natch.

Nothing short of my children coming into terrible trouble will take this one away.

OH! I got called OUT!

I guess I will eat my own words, because I wouldn't sell/trade this at all:

Then again....put a 1959 Les Paul Standard 'Burst in front of me, and we'll talk.

My Red and AZ Blue WBs are my "must keep at all costs Ricks". The rest I'm quite attached to, but not quite to that extreme. I play the 381/12 quite a bit, and it was my first 381, but if I had a WB 12 or OS/C63 12 in a cool color I probably wouldn't miss it too terribly much. :D

That's on the Rick side; I have a few non-Ricks I wouldn't sell either, but I'll leave those out, as that would be thread drift. :D

My JG 360v64 - 6 string and my JG 360 WB - 12 string are must keep on the guitar side of the equation. My JG 4003 and my ATG 4001 are basses that are also keepers. My JG 350 could be pried away..............at the right price or the right trade I suppose.

If I could only keep one Rickenbacker my 360v64 would be my choice of guitar to keep.

The only one of my Ricks that I ever consider selling is my 4003 mapleglo, that has a potential buyer.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

My '69 jetglo SOLIDTOP 325, Lennon spec. I even dug up original circa '64 bakelite knobs, but still have the original silver top ones....

to clarify, my capri and 325 are "cold dead hands" guitars, not "willing to sell"....

My GAS is pretty well settled right now and my Ricks are all staying right where they are. My little stable is perfect for me and all I want to do with them is play them more. I suppose I'm most attached to my 320, if I had to give up all but one, just because I've had it for 27 years and it really is a part of me.

Probably the only one I might consider selling would be my '76 4001 Azureglo, but only because it's the worst looking. It's the one I like best for playing due to the thin neck, so it would be a push to want to sell it...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Well, if anyone ever sees my old trusty capri 335, I would love to have it back. Last I heard, it was bought by Lee Gagliano...
