Looks like it from the pics.

Beautiful indeed!

I though we decided all 21-fretters were from '71?

Quoting from THE BOOK (ahem):

"The mysterious 21-fretters"

"Nowhere in Rickenbacker catalogs or price lists is there a mention of 4001 basses made with 21-fret fingerboards. Yet from 1969 to '71, an unknown number of them were made this way." :)

Like I posted in the Rick forum on TB, I didn't see any words in the book, with all the eye candy there. I'll have to force myself to read.

Not the same one.
That one was a restoration (a nice looking one too).......Dave's was/is brown-looking. I think Ken Swearingen (sp) owned it before Dave.
Wasn't that the one that some one had put a small square-ish inlay at the 21st fret?
That one is pictured on Dale's page on FB.(If that's the same one…..)

It's interesting that they 21r's just sort of slipped out there.
Well, at least at this point, at least 14 true 21r's are accounted for(one on the register is not a "true" 21r) and the earliest is not listed as such, though it is listed.
I have yet to list this one but will do so shortly.

My favorite 4001, it's too bad that Rickenbacker gave up on them….

A note to Gil or Peter would sort this, nice to keep them all logged.

I haven't taken it apart but it looks like the early thin chromed
plastic type.
