Welcome Rory! I'm pretty new here too but have owned Ricks for years now. The 4003 is a great bass. The v63 is the best rick bass I've played. I find it has more presence and more of everything. I play in a band (RockFour)and sometimes, while in the studio or on stage, I feel a need to try out my other Ricks - this is when my band gives me a look that means "yeh, we like 'em but stay with this one!"
It's time to give yourself a treat, Rory - get a Rick!

If anyone question the value of a 4001v63 - almost $600 for this?

It doesn't have all the parts and can't be put back together. Kinda like the humpty dumpty of basses if you ask me.

Well, I have a bid in on a double neck lapsteel, just to see if I can get two. Then i'll worry about if I can do the mods.

"We assume all the pickups work".........looks to me like it got ran over by a car. I'd be worried if I was the winning bidder.

Says it was busted by an upset wife. That bass is totally trashed. Hate to think what would have made her that mad, looks like she took an axe to it! So sad....but that bass is DOA in my opinion.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

So what about that instrument is worth almost $600?, Yes, I'd love to have the horseshoe, but have confidence they'll be available again.

The fingerboard?I could use the machines(or one anyway to replace my bent one).

I'm curious what the winning bidder plans to do.
