Is that a maple fretboard on that Ric? What's the story?

That's a "Shadow" Chris. A special run for Guitar Center in the mid-late '80s I believe. Not maple, just light rosewood with black dot fret markers.
VERY desirable piece of hardware.

Here's a close-up of my Shadow's fingerboard. It's lighter and less 'swirly' than those on my '72 and '98.

I am also a fan of Levy's. I like this one for the width. I think it's 2 1/2 inches tooled leather, with glove leather on the back.

Mark, I want to hang on to the Ric strap. My next guitar purchase is going to be a Ric 12-string guitar, before we go into the studio this fall, and I want to hold it to try with that guitar. Hopefully that Rhoades Music link will work out for you.

J.C. - The suns strap is indeed very nice. Quality of construction is top notch. Check your larger local guitar stores, and they may have one hanging there for sale.

Cole - last two trips to GC's, in Oklahoma City and Arlington Heights, IL, I saw the Levy's sun straps hanging there. Give it a try!

Some really nice stuff there. There's a lot of **** on the market over here and not much imagination. Seems like I could start up a little 'cottage industry'. Of course, I'd be their first customer and the price would be right!!

No pics, but you don't need 'em. I buy Fort Bryan 2" nylon web straps for ~$5US - a new one for each guitar I buy. They're cheap, they're comfortable, they don't slip, and they last. I've never had a failure, and one of them is pushing 20 years old now. I screw Schaller strap locks on the end and I'm good to go.

Besides, it gives me a good excuse to patronize the local music store instead of some mega Guitar Death outfit. Which reminds me - I need two more.

That Sunn strap is cool kinda gives and Inca vibe. I have a lot of Levi's myself. I'd like one of those shoulder pad type straps for my Violin basses though.

Left to Right; Levy's cotten web, El Dorado plain saddle leather, Levy's glove leather, Rickenbacker.

I use the Rickenbacker strap with my acoustics.

I use a plain black no-name strap that came with my first guitar.

I added a cheap novelty sherrif badge for fun one day and kept it on ever since.

I just can't seem to get mine to work right. Damn guitar has already fallen off 11 times and is all dented up. Should I invest in some strap locks?
