A mapleglo 4003s/5. I loved this bass at first but then the guitar player quit and I was now the guitarist again. I ended up trading the 4004c for a '66 360, which I then traded for a Twin which I then had "blackfaced".
I sold the 4003s/5 to Jeff Rath because I no longer played bass enough to control the B string and I rarely used the low B anyway. I bought a wonderful 4003.
Now it looks like I am back to playing bass, and I am saving for a 4001c64s.
Of course once I get that, I'll most likely have to start playing guitar again... but it'll be nice to have.

John, I go through that a bit...played guitar for about 6 years straight until being cajoled into being a bassist again. I had accumulated a pretty nice set of guitar gear: a 1966 Fender Mustang w/DiMarzio FastTrak 1's in it, a 2001 650 Dakota, and a Peavey Triump PAG 120 combo. Pretty much scream city.
As a bassist I started with my old Carvin rig (300 W head and 2x10 cab), my 1975 4001, and my 1992 fretless J...but...
My son also plays bass, and was complaining that the Carvin head ******* out on him continually. Took one rehearsal for me to see he wasn't jerking me about that. So I had to get a new head (got a Behringer 300 W-not great, but good price)...
And then I was gassing for a new bass so I don't overwork the old 4001-a 2004 Fireglo Laredo entered the picture. But I'm not complaining...I generally don't part with guitars.
Amps...well that's another story. I don't want to know how much money I've spent over the years. Right now I have a suspicion that the Carvin head works OK with the 4004...it hasn't ******* out on me yet, so maybe I'll look for another cabinet soon so that my son and I don't have gear conflicts. Two amps would allow me to experiment with running the 4001 in stereo, too!
All in all, it's nice to be flexible enough as a musician to morph about like that, and certainly helps to have adequate equipment. Nothing like a guy who says "I'll play bass for you. Can I borrow an amp?"
