Kenneth, you lucky dog !! You got to tour the factory. I live practically right up the road from RIC and for my chances of ever seeing the inside of the place, it might as well be AREA 51.
We're not flaming ya, just breaking your chops.
Yes, we would be on board for custom shop instruments, but for now we appreciate what is offered. JH is running RIC the best way he can, it's better than RIC going belly up.

Kenneth - I too would love to see a new V-series bass. From the many posts on this board requesting V68 4001's and reissue 4005's, I think we can safely assume that John Hall has gotten the message. However considering the flack that some have directed towards John regarding delivery time of new product lines (C series, 4004LK), I wouldn't blame him for not announcing any new models unless he was ready for production. If a new V-series bass is on the drawing board, we'll just have to wait it out according to RIC's timetable.

Yes JH knows how demanding some of us are believe me. We're lucky he still posts here with some of the rude stuff that is directed toward him. He had enough of us once, let's not drive him out again. Asking is one thing, demanding is quite another.

I would think the v 68 has a small chance of happening ... but I don't think you will see the 4005 come back ... and if it did it would cost a lot ...

I'd buy one. A 4005 I mean. A V68 with two high gains sure but not with a horseshoe even though they sound great.

How much do we reckon a re-issue 4005 would be & what would we be willing to pay?
Come on chaps (I say chaps because I don't think that many chapettes would play a 4005), what would you be willing to pay if Ric suddenly announced that a 4005 re-issue was being released shortly?

JH or Peter I forgot who mentioned around 4 grand, which I would gladly pay for a new semi hollow body Ric bass.

cheaper than a 4004LK.

I'd pay what I paid for my first 4005, $175.00
Actually, John said street price would probably be around $3000.00 if I recall correctly, not an unreasonable price at all. If it were to come to pass, I would hope it is made as a vintage series with toaster pickups and vintage TRC.

I think that outside of this forum the 4005 would be a flop. A very limited edition wouldn't be a bad way to go.....50 units maybe. IMO the 4005's are kinda fugly and I would rather see a different rendition of a semi hollow bass......perhaps more like the 4003 in shape.
(putting on flame suit as I type

)

Did you ever see a maploglo 4005? Beautiful bass.
Jeffrey, did you buy your 4005 brand new in 1967 by any chance? haha!

Do you not think that this forum is representative of the Rickenbacker owners community?

No, I don't. I think it is the fanatical fringe of the community. I think the "die hards" are represented here and not the average consumer.
I liked the 4005's at first but the more I look at them the more I dislike them. Just different tastes
