Having seen the MB finish up close and personal, it is truly beautiful. If I didn't have a 4004C II in translucent green on order, that baby would be mine!!! IMHO I think a 4003 in MB would look even better with a black nameplate and pickguard.

I like the white pickguard and nameplate with this finish. I'm having a hard time picturing it in black, but I'm sure it would look good none the less.

Yeah, black is always cool. One thing I've noticed is that Ric finishes don't usually photograph well, at least the bursts, which tend to lose the fade property on film. They always look better in person.
I am undecided about what to do with the MB. I have a few possible contenders - a Laredo, a 360/12 or a 660/12. We'll have to see how good the remainder of this year is to me. I'd like something in that finish.

Ya know, to me, mapleglo suffers the most in photographs. . . it's kinda plain looking, honestly. Compared to the real thing, anyway.
And then you see one is person - the difference is amazing.
Speaking of Rick finishes and photo quality, the marketing department REALLY needs some better "official" jpegs distributed to all the dealers. The ones they have now are small, not very detailed, and the color is HORRIBLE on some of them. 650 models especially.

Speaking of mapleglo, I used to own a mapleglo 4001 years ago. I just got back into the Ric clan a few weeks ago with a brand new jetglo 4003, I might have gotten a fireglo or mapleglo, but it just wasn't the same to me without the stipe up the middle, when did that disappear? I've been away awhile from Ric's, it would seem.

The reason I said that four was my limit was that I have limited space at home to keep much more than that and I only take three basses on tour with me due to very limited available storage space on the bus. I'll now have two Ricks( 4001V63 and 4003MB) and a older Jazz Bass. That will do me for now.

I just got my new Montezuma Brown 4003 and it is GREAT. The finish is first rate and the sound is even better. I can't wait to play it live on stage.

My Greenburst 4001 didn't look good with a white pickguard so I put a tortoise shell one on there. It's still weird and I'd rather have a Montezuma Brown dot neck.
Mr. Hall, Please consider manufacturing a handfull of MB's, four and fivers, dot neck next year. Do not do it this year because I'm building a new house and can't afford another guitar unless I sell some.

Hi Peter,
I would love to send in some photos of my new 4003 and my 4001V63, but I have no way to do it on my own. Maybe I could send some photos to you when I get off the road in a few weeks, and let you post them,if that would be OK with you.
