I want a reissue 4001 dot neck in Montezuma Brown this year. Do you think Ric can make one for me?

Hmm, not likely.
RIC doesn't offer the 4001 V63 or 4003S any more.
It's sweet to be in love with a RIC bass though.
Doesn't the 4003 MB grab you?

I do like the MB a lot. Paul's correct, you won't be getting a dot neck 4001 out of Ric this year.

Hi Paul!
Her finish is mapleglo. She's a 1989 model that I bought used, and sounds and plays GREAT!!! She had had a neck crack repair before I bought it, but that hasn't hindered her at all! I've played her all over the country, in all types of climate and temp changes, and she's as a reliable and stable a bass as you would want. It probably would not sell for much because of the repair, but I would never,ever part with it.

I just bought a Montezuma brown 4003 from Chris at Pick of the Ricks. I can't wait till it gets here. He has another in stock if anyone else is looking for one. All it takes is 1095.00 (includes shipping) and a sweet, understanding wife. Luckily I happen to have both right now.

Congratulations, Mark and Dan, for your soon-to-arrive 4003 MB and mostly, sweet and understanding wives! Haha, my lovely wife just frowned for only 10 minutes when she saw I'd brought home my '72 and '86 together. Now we're all happy in the house.

My drummer asked me yesterday "Good Lord Dan, how many Rickenbackers do you need" and I explained to him the flexability of having 3 different basses with 3 distinct sounds.

That's why we keep buying them babies, used or new, and go on to improve them both sonically and visually with little personal touches while keeping originality at best.

Too boot, the 400X basses and some RIC guitars are just amazing objets d'art that happen to be musical instruments. How could we resist owning and playing more of them beautiful things? Not to mention THE SOUNDS we love so much in a RIC bass...

I shall die happy when my plan of owning at least 9 (love that number!) RIC basses is achieved. Maybe even publish a photo book called "Nine Ladies" to celebrate!

'70s (classic!), '80s (love the narrower neck), '90s (improved craftsmanship), '00s (finished binding at fingerboard end since Apr. 18,'03), whatever. Get them girls while you can!

Somebody please help me score a 1969 21-fret 4001 Firegloooooooouuu. (If there were any made!)
