Hm....for me, mine might not be as heavy as some of these...
Metallica - Master of Puppets July 86 Pine Knob with Cliff...caused permanent neck damage from headbanging...
Cheap Trick 80 and 79, 79 opening for Kiss, 80 on their own.
Kiss - Tiger Stadium first reunion show August 1996
Van Halen - 1984 tour Joe Louis Arena
Monsters of Rock 1988 Silverdome with Kingdom Come (ICK), Dokken, Scorpions, Metallica and VH.
(felt so bad for Dokken because Metallica WORE THE CROWD OUT)
Clutch / Steve Vai - State Theater Detroit (clotheslined a slam dancer who was going to run over my VERY HOT date)
David Lee Roth / Vai 1986? Cobo Hall
Rush - Moving Pictures tour with Max Webster Joe Louis Arena 1981?

 Holy cow! You just described the best concert I could possibly imagine. Rush on the Hemispheres tour, with UFO (one of my favorites) and Cheap Trick. Man, I am jealous! My first Rush show was 1984 - Grace Under Pressure tour. Excellent show.

I saw the same tour at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin that summer of 1988. Same exact experience... Kingdom Come was first and just okay. Metallica was second, and it was like nothing I'd ever seen, the way the crowd went nuts for them. It was unforgettable. Dokken had the misfortune of following Metallica, and they actually got booed there at Alpine Valley, and I felt sorry for them, too. They didn't deserve to be booed, it was just that having that slot in the show was like teeing off at the course after Tiger Woods. Scorpions were 4th and were awesome, and VH was 5th and great.

That was probably the best hard rock show I've seen, although Faith No More, Metallica, and Guns N Roses at RFK Stadium in DC in '92 was great too (except for Axl delaying GNR and sucking the momentum out of the show).

My favourite rock/metal shows were Manowar, Manchester 1984 (at the time the best show I'd ever seen, and I went expecting them to be awful), Sabbath on the Heaven & Hell tour (also at the Manchester Apollo, 1980), any Motorhead gig from the Ace of Spades tour but especially Blackburn King George's Hall which was the first time I met Lemmy, who was like God to me at the time, and Hawkwind Live 79 Preston Guildhall, the first rock gig I ever saw; it completely blew my mind. Also Hawkwind at Monmore which saw the (brief) return of Nik Turner, and probably several other gigs. Girlschool at the Norbreck Castle (twice) - awesome. In fact there are loads! It was also cool seeing Blizzard of Oz on a warm up gig prior to the release of their first album, also at the Norbreck, and meeting Ozzy, Randy Rhoads, Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake. The gig was a bit rough, but the experience was something else. The only autograph I didn't get was Randy's, although I did speak to him and shake his hand.

Sean, what was really cool was we got to sit though a whole afternoon's soundcheck too! Very interesting....Randy telling Bob he was too loud (which he was, by far!) and Bob denying it, Ozzy yelling at roadies but being as nice as pie to us, and all of them being nice, down to earth guys. As was Lemmy both times I met him (in the early days he was really chilled and funny; seems a bit harder now from what I've seen, although still a top, top bloke). Joey DeMaio was also fantastic both times I met him; really, really great bloke, despite what some might think, and a hell of a player. I couldn't believe it first time I saw him live....

Ah, also Rock Goddess at JRs Nightclub in Blackpool; what a revelation they were!
