Your favorite strings to use with Rics?

I think it was on this forum that I learned about Snake Oil strings. They're great! The nickel ones, anyway, which sound good immediately, and I'm surprised at how long-lasting they seem to be. A couple months on, with some rehearsals, shows, and just sitting around and playing use, they don't sound much different from when they were new.

I have had "Oh my God!" moments when I replaced the flats on various guitars (including Ricks) that I've bought with my preferred D'Addarios (round-wound 10s, nickel). They really brought my 360 to life, and I liked my 660/12 better with the D'Addarios too. For bass, all other things being equal I like DRs but my recently-acquired 4003 came with a fairly new set of D'Addarios (.045-.100) and they feel pretty good so I haven't felt a burning need to change them. For a long time I preferred GHS Boomers for bass, and I still like them when they're fresh but they seem to go dead quicker than some other brands.

The most dramatic "Oh my God!" moment with strings actually was not with a Rick, but it did have an RRF connection: a while back I bought a Gretsch 6120 from Jdog. It came strung with flats and set up really nicely, but I just couldn't seem to bond with it, and I was seriously thinking about selling it. Then one day I changed strings and put a set of D'Addario 11s on it. It was like a completely different guitar! It has now become one of my favorites.

i voted "other" because i have been using dr strings for about the last 5 years on my basses. i have dr sunbeams on my 4000,and have used dr low riders on several basses. i have not yet tried dr's flatwound strings,but would like to if i can determine how high the tension is. dr's for me are very consistent,and seem to last forever. i also have some ghs flats on my danelectro hodad,and they sound great,esp. played with a pick. i loved the sound and feel of pyramid flats,but they were unkind to my set-neck 4000,and i have had pretty bad luck with them on other basses as well,consistency-wise.
