The premium is exactly because it's unopened.

Once it's opened, regardless of condition, it loses most (if not all) the premium value.

Now what?

Conundrum time!
It could hold just a bunch of bricks... or a gorilla... paying a premium for something you can't see is not very logical, imo...

So, the thing to do is to let someone famous open the box and play a few tunes on the instrument inside! Document it of course

He took some X-rays of the guitar to confirm it's authenticity, if I read correctly.

Unless it was John himself, it would mean a hill of beans.

It's a guitar, not a mummy... I bet he can find some weirdo who'll pay handsomely for it, though... won't be me

Well, if they sell all 200 tickets, they'll be making a healthy sum off of the sale...

yikes..

how much are these prizes worth ?

1) A 1991 325 JL
2) 2010 4001c64s
3) $500 gift cert.

if they sell 199 tickets at $100... that's $19,900

isn't that a LOT... like a lot a lot.. more than the prizes are worth ?

But if you win, you got a $2000+ guitar for $100...good for them for the raffle idea, I think it's cool

no doubt the raffle is a cool idea..

I just didn't know if these instruments were like: $5k+ each..

I don't think I'll plop a $100 for a one in 200 chance.. my luck is just not that good!.... I'll put my $100 into my RIC fund!

LOL! I went to a local music store Fender promotion ( Greg Koch played.. man he's something! ) ..

anyway: in a room of about 30-40 people - I'd say 20 got some raffle prize- ( anything from a pack of strings.. T-Shirts.. to guitars.. ) but not one of 'em was me!

I think it's worth it. They may not sell all 200 tix, plus there's a chance to win 1 of 3 great prizes. Even if you don't win either of the guitars, a $500 gift certificate for $100 is pretty darn good.

It's like the lottery... gotta play to win.

I figure I've blown $100 (and more) on certain things throughout my life and have had nothing to show for it. I guess this could be one of those times or I could be playing "Twist and Shout" on that sweet 325. :)
