I don't know. I don't think the owner knows either because the jackplate is so worn. I removed the 'stolen' listing from the registry, but someone also posted the instrument so hopefully they'll take it off the stolen list, too.

That was me. I have now edited the registry entry to remove the stolen tag...

BTW

Here is info about another stolen 4001 - this one from Ottawa Canada that I saw on another forum

It is in the register already but not as a collected item. Perhaps Gil or Peter can edit the registry listing and add these images.

SN is MD1582

This is from the Guitars Canada forum. I'd post a link but I think this is against RRF rules

Bass was stolen in November 2007

"1973 Rickenbacker 4001 Burgundyglo

Stolen, 1973 Rickenbacker 4001 Ser # MD1582. Burgundyglo with OHSC (blue interior). Bass was in excellent condition before it was taken. It features;

- Burgundyglo finish with white pickguard
- Checkered body binding
- Toaster neck pickup
- Full width neck inlays in Mother of Pearl
- Split tailpiece
- Re-issue horseshoe bridge pickup

If you happen upon this bass, a reward will be given for its return."

IIRC, that BG '73 4001 was purchased by a forumite and the bass disappeared while in transit to him. :evil:
