The '64 is amazing. Now find that bobbin! Half the charm of these is the horseshoe pickup with real, magnetized shoes...you'll want to get that working again, just from a value standpoint alone. They happen to sound really nice, too!

Unfortunately, that is all too true. Pulled it out when I was just a dumb kid. Guess now, I'm a dumb adult!

I know it's in the garage at the old house. Just need to find it. It was one of my goals to get it cleaned out this weekend while the weather is so warm. 50's in Indiana during January...amazing!

I'm guessing that it will need some work. That was the reason I pulled it in the first place. As I recall, it had almost no sound output at all.

The skunk stripe is the strip of walnut/shedua that runs down the center of the bass.

It can be seen most clearly at the headstock. Note that the one on the right here has it, and the one on the left doesn't:

I'm in the process of getting moved. We started Labor Day weekend with everything we need to live, and the garage at the old house is a mess to say the least. I've only been able to work on getting it ready to sell on the weekends and this one is to get the junk out of the garage and hopefully find the bobbin in the process. At least I have incentive to get it cleaned out now!

It may also be that the coil is fine but the magnets need to be recharged.
