I just looked up the ABM bridge that Allparts sells, and with the exception of the slots in the quickchange tailstop, this looks identical to the one on my Cii.

I went to that post with the RIC tour photos so I could get a good look at the 4004/5Cii that was in for repair. At the full resolution of the image I could see what John is talking about. As far as I can surmise, only the 5 string bridge is a custom one piece design; the 4 string bridge is a two piece design. I would still like to be able to get the quick release version of the tailpiece for my chrome 4 string ABM bridge. Is it possible for RIC to help out in acquiring these without having to buy the complete bridge as I can't find a way to contact ABM? Pictured is the bridge with the tailpiece I'd like.

The 5 stringer is one solid piece as I said, with the "quick change" configuration.

The 4 is as you say, but it's still a custom part due to our string spacing. I have no idea if some of their parts are interchangeable.

We crossed posts there. I'll look up their email and send it to you tomorrow but I'd be very surprised if they'll even answer. Very nice people but it's a wholesale business and pretty small.

I am curious why you went with the quick change design for the 5 string but not for the 4 string? That is one modern feature we all would like.

I like the look of the non quickchange bridge better, but the quickchange definitely has advantages when changing strings.

I've had five 5 string basses over the years but I am down to just one these days.

I am down to one 4 string these days ... I don't play it much ... but it is cool ...

I only have a pair of fives, but will be looking at sixes next time out.

That Zon was custom made for me by Joe in '99. I have visited him a couple times in his shop and he has two of my large format landscape photographs. He did pick a very nice piece of spalted maple for it, and I had Joe not put in the usual active electronics, it has only a passive volume control. He also wired the SD pickup in parallel for me to get a sweeter clear high end for the fretless to sing better than in the standard series wiring he uses. I added the Hipshot A style bridge and Hipshot Ultralite tuners (not visible in this photo).
