I received an email from Mike Parks on Thursday that I only opened today. (My office Christmas party was Thursday night and Friday was a real struggle. What can I say?) Anyway, my 330 has arrived and with any luck it will be at my house in time for Christmas. If it does arrive in time, I'm going to wrap it up and stick it under the tree for 48h.

The only downside to this is that I now won't be able to afford Kevin's gorgeous 330 BBR with silver guards. Sorry, Kevin. That thing is a stunner.

I was just told that my 360 DCM was on it's way from CA to me. Yeeessss. Probably won't make it until next week though. (I know this is a 330 DCM thread but I couldn't find 360 thread)

I got an email yesterday that said that one had sold. The 75th 4003 at Grayson's Tune Town is sold, too. I wish people would update their webpages!

At first I was not really impressed with the DCM & gold, but the more I see pictures of the 330's, the more I like it. Maybe my wife won't notice another guitar (or the hit on our Visa statement).

As far as I know, Rhoads Music still hass a 330DCM.

I inquired about the one at Music Zoo, but it was already sold. Not that I could afford it right now, anyways.

Just heard from someone on the other forum who inquired about the 330DCM at Rhoads. They still have it, and are asking $3000 for it.

Crikey. That's a lot of money. You could conceivably buy two really nice, standard 330's for that kind of cash. I picked mine up from the UPS Depot last night after a long day at work, and while I'm thrilled that I got one (I paid full MSRP by the way), I don't know that I'd go as high as $3000 US. I was a real bear at work yesterday because I expected to get away early to pick the 330 up in the afternoon. It didn't work out that way, and I ended up driving through heavy rain in the pitch black Canadian winter night just so I could have it for Christmas. It proved to me just how completely nuts I am about Rics. I really should get a life.

It's been very mild here in Toronto for the past week, and the carton had been sitting in the depot for 36h, so I was able to open the box almost immediately when I got home.

I have no digital camera, so I can't share any pictures with you just yet. The various photos that have been posted or linked from this site give you a good idea of what it looks like. Mine has a lovely fingerboard that reminds me of an Emily Carr painting -- it has amazing, short swirls running right along the length of the board. They look just like brushstrokes. I have a 370/12 with some nice figuring in the board, but this takes the cake.

The colour itself is very dark. When I opened the case in the low light of our living room, the guitar looked like it was Jetglo. As you move the guitar through medium light, it looks like a deep purple. In bright light, it looks like burgundy. It's really something. My wife (who used to hang around with some hot-rodders) says that it's "black with a purple flip". The metallic effect is quite prominent. Paul's right when he calls it a "pearl" effect. The metallic particles are very, very fine. They don't shine like diamonds, they just glow. It's a fascinating colour. Dark cherry metallic is the perfect name for it.

It's also nice to have something to which Paul contributed. For me, it links the guitar with this forum, and that's a nice allegiance to have. Well done, Paul.

All of that said, I don't think I'm going to be keeping this guitar in its case. It's a player for sure. It's mine for good, and I'm going to rock it to my hearts content. If it gets some character in the process, so be it.

Oh, and from what I now know about his colour, the 660's are going to be incredible ...

...I'm expecting no less!
