Brian, I 'm not sure if it would be a flop. I wouldn't be interested in one, not because I don't like them, but I would have very little use for one. They do not have a low B string and it would be a bit out of place in a loud rock band.
There might be several guys who mainly play traditional style jazz and mellow blues who would love one.

Joey, I play my semi hollow Ric gtrs in a loud rock band (don't see the difference) & if you want a low B, then just let Jeff have it for a while!

Tony I've only play one once, it had flat wound strings and it wasn't plugged into an amp. I liked it, but I don't know if I'll get the the sound I want from it to use in a loud rock band.

There was a hard rock band in the early nineties that used one, in fact it was the first one I had ever seen. I don't know if it was used on the recording they did however. I saw this on MTV and forgot the band, the record sounded like a Ric bass though. they had a few hits and were around for a while, young band.

There's a loud Rock'n'Roll band---Oasis.
The 4005 FG was "Definitely Maybe" used in their first couple of albums.

Well, I'm not one to demand anything from Mr. Hall, but I'd still like one of those 4004LKs.

Paul, I don't think that was the band, the bass player had a mapleglo 4005, I think one of their songs was "Run away Train" But I'm not positive if that is a song of the band or not, I just link that song with the band in my mind if you know what I mean. Maybe Soul Asylum?

My jazz fusion band, Rare Blend, definitely plays things on the harder edge of jazz, that goes more into progressive rock areas and my 4005WB does just fine, and that is with flatwounds!

Does Steppenwolf ring a bell with anyone? Nick St. Nick played a 4005.

Soul Asylum did do Runaway Train.

OK Oasis fan here. Noel Gallagher plays bass once in a while. I know for a fact he uses that same RIC, a 4005 as shown in the previous post on the song "Go Let it Out." You can here that bass loud and clear in that song and it rocks!! Also The bass player from the Stone Roses had a 4005 but it was a lightshow. Soul Asylum did do Run Away train not Oasis. If they broght back the 4005, they would NOT FLOP!

Its like anything else once you cant get something you want it ,if they started making them again I'm sure we all would want one but a lot of people would hold off because they could get one whenever

Another Oasis fan here, especially their 1st 2 albums.
FYI, Gary "Mani" Mounfield, bass player from The Stone Roses, played a 4005 with a Jackson Pollack style paint job, not a Lightshow, in the 1st half of their career.





He switched to his 3000 basses for their 2nd album and continues to play them in Primal Scream now.

Hey Thank Paul. The black and whites through me off as you can probably see. I wonder what it looked like in color?? I also know the current bass player of Oasis "Andy Bell" used a lot of Rics with his other bands and uses a Ric bass in the "Sunday Morning Call Video", but now he uses a Burns Bison.

How about a standard 4004 model based on the LK but without the carving?
