Anyone familiar with NRBQ? .... they've been around since ... forever.... Boston area band and have almost a cult following. They're VERY good, but you gotta get into their quirkyness. Early on they used a trombone with great effect.

We played a Halloween gig a few years ago...entered through the crowd in a procession wearing Sun Ra-style costumes and chanting: "It's after the End of the World...Don't you know that yet?"

Why was it that every band during the 60's had to have photos of them jumping?

I never understood it, and it never seemed very cool to me back then or now.

The DC-5 were no exception

Also, the DC-5 were the first band that I can remember that had their own plane.

Everyone else used commercial airline carriers.

They also had a couple of nice Cadillacs. Those 4 big amps couldn't be Super beatles but they look like them, do you have any idea Jon?

Bob, I took a look through a glass loop (magnifier) at the original print of the photo and they sure appear to be Super Beatle amps with 4x12 Cabs mounted on Vox stands.

There are also a couple of smaller Vox amps in the photo that are difficult to see.

I would think the Cadillac Limos are there for the benefit of the photo shot only. It looks staged to me.

Yeah they do look like Super Beatles, they even have the Vox logo in the middle, what year where those made first? I thought they were late 60's amps?

Not that it helps to place the image date, but those Cadillacs' body styles were from '65-'68.

Those look like solid state Vox Super Beatle amps built by Thomas Organ in the USA. They have angled heads. What appears to be a Vox logo on the center of the head is probably either the ID plate on the rear of the head or white Vox script printed on a head cover. Most people using these amps reversed the head to have access to the controls on the rear. A heavy steel clamp on the underside of the head secures the head to the trolley. These amps were first built in 1965 or 1966. When Brian Epstein saw the Super Beatle amps supplied by Thomas Organ for the Beatles 1966 tour, he objected to the name 'Super Beatle'. He reasoned that nothing was more super than a Beatle. Thereafter Thomas Organ built exactly the same amp but revised the name to simply 'Beatle'. I own a complete Beatle amp with trolley, pedal and covers. I also have a Super Beatle head that I use for spare parts.

After seeing the movie, Having a Wild Weekend was the first LP I ever bought.
Great sound, great songs.
