Jim, the bridge cover is a standard Fender Precision cover part # 001-0108-000. It's not a aftermarket cover by Allparts or any of thoses guys, so it fits perfectly on the Jaguar.

John, I'm not surprised that you haven't heard back from them. As I mentioned to you, FMIC have clamped down on them shipping to the USA.

Perhaps FMIC will expand the finish choices as one of their NAMM announcements.

I've got my fingers crossed. BTW - be careful with that stand, especially on the white one. It caused some ugly yellowing spots on my Blue Boy Ricks.

Thanks, guys.
If you haven't yet, check over on the Fender Forum for the latest on Ishibashi's policy regarding Fender.

You need a black one, Jon!
Very nice.

Lars, if Fender would like to offer me one finished in Black at no cost i'd gladly take it. But really 3 are enough.

And John, thanks for the heads up on the stand, but I only use it at gigs.

Heard back from them. No white in stock, just 3TS (Which I would gladly take as well) and the US colors.

Unfortunatley, the shipping costs take it over my budget. I'm going to wait for NAMM and see if I can get some of the new colors domestically. Otherwise, i'm seriously considering buying a red or black one and eventually getting it refinished. Shell Pink or Sonic Blue, most likely.

OK Jon, Lars, and gang. I may be getting a Fender Jaguar too. I've got two Ric basses (4001S and 4003) and also a nice little Hagstrom collection.

Of any Fender bass I might get soon, I'm thinking this might be it. I'm sort of "old school" and like the tonal variability to come from the bass - which the Jaguar looks to have in spades. I also like the idea that it's got the jazz neck and pickups. Paul McCartney did some pretty neat things with a jazz on the White Album at least (Glass Onion, etc.).
I'd love to play one locally, but I frankly haven't seen any. Lots of jazzes and p basses though. I may give Wildwood Guitars (also a Ric dealer) to see what they've got. There are also other various stores and dealers in Colorado.

This model has been in the the back of my mind for months now. It seems to have everything I like: tonal range, retro looks (like the Rics and Hagstroms), 2 single coil pickups, etc., etc.

Any updates on the sunburst and other finish availability in the U.S.?

Are there any caveats to this thing, or has everyone who's gotten one (or two, or three) never looked back?

I think they are great value for the money.
At $700 you can't go wrong. I put on Chromes (strings) immediately and (as you said) never looked back.

These basses are absolutley wonderful - a close friend has one in Hot Rod Red. While the red is nice, I won't take the plunge unless I can grab one in white or 3TS.

OK, I think I'm convinced! I'll probably pull the trigger on the purchase in the next couple of weeks (still would like to check one out locally though).

John, I'm told by the folks at Ishibashi that the Vintage White Jaguar's are no longer being made. Hense, no longer available new.

Hot Rod Red, Black and Three Tone Sunburst are the only finishes now available.

BTW, I'm no longer a RIC owner and have no regrets. My Jaguar's have seen to that. That's why I rarely visit this site anymore.

Jon, is there a U.S. source for the sunburst? I only see the red and black being offered in this country. I'd love to get a sunburst if I could, but I don't want to pay a big premium to import it. Any thought?

Unfortunately David, Fender USA won't import the Sunburst, only the Hot Rod Red and the Black.

You'll have to keep your eyes open for a used Sunburst on Ebay. There are a couple of them out there. They go quickly when they get listed. and always meet or exceed the reserve price.

Good luck.

OK, thanks Jon. I'll see what I can scare up. I may be able to wait for a sunburst to show up on ebay or somewhere else. We'll see how good my self control is. Image

David, there's a new 3 Tone Sunburst and Vintage White Jaguar available on Ebay if you're interested.

Both are in Japan but ship worldwide.
