Charly, my 4004 was made in April 1995 and I replaced the switch around July 2006 so it lasted a little while!

I swapped it out for a more manly switch from a Les Paul. I don't know about you guys, but I like to know I'm grabbing something when I'm switching pickups.

Here's how I like my 4004's, VVT with J-bass knob layout. I used to have a Jazz so making quick changes with the knobs was something I got used to. I might try concentrics on my next Laredo though, like a stackknob with a dummy switch.

The switch could still be useful as a mute switch.

For that I fancy a push button (digital century).

This was the one I meant (EP-0066-022), I'm just not sure it is a seperated dual pole - looks like it but I would check before buying.

That's exactly the same one I ordered from them for my 4004C. A standard Les Paul spec pickup selector.

Ah, ok. So is it DPDT, center on? I don't know no stinkin' Les Paul....

I have the switch mounted so that forward is the neck pickup, back is the bridge pickup, and straight up is both...pretty standard.

Ok, then the two sides are seperate - can't really tell from the picture. Thanks.

Got the parts today. I don't think I'll do it tomorrow. Gotta play it Sunday, and no sense taking chances that I'll screw something up. I'll take it to work next week and work on it at lunch time.

Charly, did you remember to get another .047 cap for your other tone control? If not, Radio Shack has a similar if not identical green cap.

Yup. got the cap, per your instructions!
