Companies get bought and sold all the time , they even get outsourced or move to another state so that they can compete. I have no allegiance to who owns Rickenbacker or Gibson or any other Guitar Company. John Hall has put himself out there in the public on these forums and people have a a sense to who he is and what he stands for, if he can't even tell the buying public what The C stands for in the C series then that's a damn slap in the face to everyone who owns one and wants to know. What's with the elitists attitude by telling the public only a handful of people know what the C series stands for ?

When people like Mark Arnquist and Dale Fortune get banned from these forums then that says it all for me. I really do wish RIC would be sold to someone who wants to make guitars.

I can't even buy a roller bridge....what a joke.

Damon: The C series stands for quality work and as close a copy of the originals as is feasible in today's market place.

RIC's earlier B series was not precisely defined as well but it did not hold us back from enjoying the product.

Where you find fault and see insult others may find intrigue. Where you see an elitism others may see humour.

Surely not knowing the answer to this question is not worth getting worked up over.

Whether it is creative, correct or classic - it is all good. :)

C = quality ? did you see the tailpiece on the recent one off ric-outlet C Series 12 string sold on eBay ? That was a optical illusion ? the guitar was tilted ? :?

Now that is the spirit, Damon! To add, be careful in assessing quality based on a photo. Finally, there are rules on this forum and those who are unable to follow them are suspended. :)

I still find the "What does the C stand for?" amusing. Three years later the topic in this very forum "What Makes a C a C?" is still going, with new posts added weekly. While it would be great to know, it doesn't really matter. In some ways, it's more interesting to keep guessing, without ever knowing.

Frankly, I agree in a way with Damon. Even though it's a trivial point (I stress the TRIVIAL part), the game got old a looong time ago, and there's no reason we can't know by now.

It means "C". It comes after "B".

Sounds too simple. I think it'd be something totally random.

Kinda like the "capri" series was named after the Hall family cat.
