Good to hear you're OK, Rich. That was my main concern.

Glad to hear you made it through with minimal hassles Richard! Great news indeed - I hope the other Houston forumites fared as well.
Over the weekend Ike when over us here in wmich and we had at least 10.5 inches of rain - I say at least because the rain gauge Sunday morning was full at 6.5 inches and we don't know for how long. Monday when the rains were past we had another 4 inches. Sunday we had a tornado warning (passed 5 miles south of us) so that was the worst of it for us. The Zoo has flooding problems in the river areas, with 8 blocks in outer downtown area blocked off with flooding, and our minor league baseball team playing in the finals had to cancel games here as the field is under 30 inches of water We did not get the winds at all, except the one tornado, just a hard steady downpour for about 60 hours. Everything is green like the spring again. Now if the yard will dry enough to mow - very long grass!

Some hurricanes are described as an ice skater doing a tight high speed spiral. A respected weatherman in Houston described Ike as a brute hockey enforcer.
