Re: Do guitars get jealous?

I think they do get jealous... Once, in junior high school, I had a favorite diva- er, guitar. An Aria. Chimey, narrow-waisted and bejangled with 12 strings, she went with me everywhere... to parties, to school, to university, even to family dinners. We were inseperable (as my mother pointed out more than once).
Then one day I found a new love. She was dark (sunburst), exotic and German. I called her "Framus". We became inseperable, and poor Aria wound up spending weeks, then months alone in her case, unattended.
One day, my German pet was at the salon getting some minor work done (shhh- she thought I didn't know, but she was older, and it took the odd salon-slash-spa day to rejuvenate her dark good looks) and I needed a guitar to play, so I took my old friend Aria.
Well, old Aria threw a fit, broke three of her barely two year old strings in the first ten minutes, then sealed her fate by shattering a bridge pin when I tried to replace one of the broken strings.. Maybe I was in too much of a hurry. Maybe I treated Aria too roughly, I don't know, but she she let me know her displeasure that day.
We parted company soon after that. Sadly, Framus -my dark German beauty- was stolen away by another (unknown to me) less than three months later. If I had still had Aria, she would have become my Number One again, but alas, she was with someone new by then... I found a new Aria, kept her for nearly a decade, but she wasn't the same as the first one.. and you DO always remember your first...
