Marty if you bypass the treble .0047 uf cap you'll get a lot more volume out of that pickup. Most likely you're not getting much because with the cap in all you get is treble and flats don't put out a lot of treble, rotos are more trebly than most flats though. I have a 72 4001FL and got very little out of the treble pickup with flats until I bypassed that cap, and I know Sérgio agrees, hahah! Yes, I failed to mention that I had put a cliplead on the .0047 cap to shunt it. HUGE difference, but not very bright sounding, just louder.
It's pretty close to even now, but I still have to get used to it.
It is pretty hard to tell what does bring happiness; poverty and wealth have both failed.
And trying to achieve happiness, I have realized there is a fine line between genius and insanity---I have erased this line.
