Yes. That way the cost is kept down but the look and basic features are the same.

Brian - RIC rarely gives timelines for product delivery. If JH himself says "...we'll finally finish the run by summer 2005..." I'm inclined to believe him.

Geez, let me make my statement about "loud" music I play a litle more clear...I meant aggressive metal, which in my own humble opinion, the 4005 doesn't have the right vibe for. I guess I shouldn't have taken for granted you knew what I meant.
Yeah, the bands that you guys mentioned can be very "loud", then again at times, so can a symphony orchestra. Bands like Steppenwolf, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, etc, were once thought by some as metal bands, seem quite mild now in comparison to metal bands now.
I did not say I didn't like the 4005, I certainly wasn't the one who said it would flop outside the forum.
Maybe a 4005 would be fine in that type of band, I don't know, since I don't have the chance to try one out...and one of you guys that pointed out how well the 4005 will perform in a loud rock band knows of what happened when I once ordered an instrument that I couldn't try out before buying. So, I don't think I want to spend $3000 or more on an instrument that might not be right for me.

Guys, if RIC made everything that everybody wanted then nobody would want anything because anybody could have anything. Having said that it would be very nice if JH made me a 4080 in fireglo and reverse trim. Why? because life is short and I WANT ONE!!!

Joey,
Your points are well taken and I totally agree with you that a 4005 would look out of place in a metal band. The semi-hollow body might as well have feedback problems if stage and FOH sound pressure exceed a certain threshold.

Since when is feedback a "problem"?????
I know, I know....just kidding!! sort of....

I play an upright with a mag pickup at um.. considerable volume sometimes right in front of an SVT and usually don't have uncontrollable feedback problems, and those are very prone to feedback too. I had an EB-2 and used to blast it in front of the same amp, never had feedback problems. I can get some cool Hendrix-like feedback on the upright though. It goes up an octave from the fundamental if I want and I can slide it up the neck and back down and keep it up the octave. I'm the upright player from hell, haha!

I just want to know when JH will start making 4003s with man-sized necks. Like my Gibson or Ilan's Gretsch. My left hand gets fatigued on these skinny mama's-boy necks.
Oh yeah, and I demand a return of red with black trim. Music stores look so drab nowadays without those things hanging on their walls for several years at a time.
