I play mostly classic rock, hard rock and metal - typical cover band stuff - and originals.
In addition to my 4003 JG & my 4004CiiMG;
Neo custom "Rock Bass", white translucent acrylic, internally illuminated in blue & green neon (seen in my avatar photo)
Spector Euro-4 LX, white
EBMM Stingray, large-flake red sparkle
Fender Geddy Lee Jazz, black
Ibanez ATK-700, blue
Hamer import 12-string bass, black
Amplifiers include;
PJB M-500, driving PJB 8-T and 16-B cabs (main stage & rehearsal rig)
SWR Headlite, driving a 15" Electrovoice speaker in a Sonic cab (smaller gigs)
SWR Baby Blue, 2-8" woofers & single 5" mid/tweeter version (recording & home practice rig)
6 electric guitars, 4 synthesizers (including a new set of Moog Taurus-3 bass pedals) & a 10-pc. DW drum kit complete the 'ol "tool box".

I play mostly UK-rock, JP-rock inspired music, but on occasion I delve into the world of Jazz and progressive.
Aside from my '83 4003JG and my '96 4003jg
I have a hard time playing anything other than Ric basses. Maybe its psychological or maybe its force of habit, but my '83 was bought for me by my dad when I was 13 and I've been playing consistently for nearly 15 years. When I play other basses it just doesn't feel right. I guess in a way its made me a Rick-O-Snob lol I won't own any other bass for any length of time. Unless its like a Series II Alembic or a Mouradian.

...read for yourself, it's growing on me. I giged with it last weekend - monster tone. Again I wouldn't call HB-1s darker, just fuller across the spectrum. I still think the fretboard is silly wide for a 4 string but I have big hands so it's just going back and forth with my Jazz in the same set that's tricky.

Hey this is an interesting catagory, everyone has a semi-main instrument and then some others to compliment their interests. It is insightful to see how different folks can use the qualities of a particular instrument to express their music. I am now a two bass guy, I have played a 69 Gibson EB3 for a long time, it fits me. Now after an excellent encounter with a forum member (first post) I play a 75 Rick 3000. It is very unique and talks back to me like the gibson. I sometimes don't know which to pick up first, so as my guitar playing friend says, playem both. I am building a new six string bass, should be cool also. Partime

I started out on a Peavey T-40 in 1979, then later sold it for my '80 Ric. I'd always regretted that sale, but as a 16 year-old, who would have thought of having more than one bass? These days, I am most comfortable with Fenders. My current line-up is as follows:
http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp35 ... 0157-1.jpg
- 1980 Rickenbacker 4001 - Jetglo/White with rosewood (bubinga) fretboard. Fitted with Hipshot bridge, strung with R. Cocco .045-.105 Nickel Roundwounds.
2008 Fender '70s Classic Jazz Bass - 3-Tone Sunburst/Black with rosewood fretboard (bound and blocked). Fitted with BadAss II bridge, strung with R. Cocco .045-.105 Nickel Roundwounds.
2003 Fender Standard Precision Bass - Black/Black with rosewood fretboard. Fitted with Gotoh 201 bridge, strung with D'Addario Chrome .050-.105 Flatwounds.
2006 Fender Standard Jazz Bass Fretless (60th Anniversary) - Midnight Wine/Black with rosewood fingerboard. Fitted with Gotoh 201 bridge, strung with D'Addario Chrome .050-.105 Flatwounds.
2005 Fender Standard Jazz Bass V - Midnight Wine/White Pearl with rosewood fretboard. Fitted with an Audere JZ3-VB-3B preamp, strung with R. Cocco .045-.130 Nickel Roundwounds.
1980 Peavey T-40 Sienna Sunburst/Black with rosewood fretboard. Strung with R. Cocco .045-.105 Nickel Roundwounds (recently relocated from G.A.S. list).
1999 Fender Squier P-Bass - Black/White with rosewood fretboard. Strung with R. Cocco .045-.105 Nickel Roundwounds (strictly my firehouse practice bass - recently converted to a "Tony Franklin-style" PJ bass).
The fretless Fender Jazz could be gone this weekend. I'll be replacing the fretted neck on the Precision with an unlined fretless, then filling that void with a Lakland Duck Dunn. I mostly play pop rock to hard rock, but love the groove of Motown.
