Original on a '70 '71 360?

Post by jsm610 »

I'm fairly certain this is the original nut for this Ric, but have never seen one w/ this writing ("Pat. Pend."). Does anyone know?

Peghead binding = very classy!
Can't answer your question however.
Is that your guitar?

Can't say I've ever seen another nut like yours but doesn't mean it isn't the original.

John, is this a slant-fret 360? I'm thinking it is.

I seem to recall those guitars having the nut stamped in this manner.

Yes it is a slant-fret. What is the pat. pend. on? The slant-frets? The nut?

Here is a better headstock photo for those who like the binding - it is indeed cool....

Headstock binding is too hip for words.

HOT! Now there is a feature that should be on every Rick.

The Pat. Pend. is for the slant fret neck design, that's why it's there. All the materials are the same as on a normal neck, it's how they are configured as what's important here....

Very nice documentation John. Now please tell me how those pickups sound.

John, what year is that 360SF? PM Blues has had one for sale for a number of years but it has a "fatter" headstock shape. I like the slimmer shape better.

JW: 360 is April '71 - KD. The bound obese-gumby looks dumb to me. How much did PM Blues want?

PM: I just got this guitar on Friday so I haven't played around with it that much. My initial impression was that the humbuckers sounded like a Ric single coil. That was until I flipped the phase switch - then I was in fat city...

IIRC PM Blues now wants $2495, up from something like $1995...not sure if it's still there..
