I've seen the 350v63 on-line and it looks interesting, but I don't have access to one. Does anyone here have any experience with them and if so, what are your impressions? I was considering that model or a 660.

Ron: The 350V63 and the 660 are two very different guitars, based on sound and playability. What are you looking for in a guitar in terms of tonality and application?

I hadn't really thought that far into it. I was basically looking for a toaster-equipped solid-body guitar. How do they differ in your opinion?

Slightly wider neck on the 660 for one thing.

Ron, the 350v63 is not a solid-body.

Ron:

1. You will get greater sustain with the 660 as it has neck through as opposed to set neck construction.

2. The middle pickup on the Model 350 bothers some as it gets in the way of strumming and finger picking.

3. The stock wiring of the three pickups won't allow for neck and bridge only configuration as you can get with the 660 and other two pickup models.

4. The body shape of the 350 and 660 feel different from one another.

5. There is more room on the 660 fretboard than the 350 fretboard if that matters to you.

6. There are presently less 660s than 350s out there if you are looking for something a little different.

7. The 660 weights 8 pounds compared to the 7 pound Model 350.

That answers a lot, Peter. I have access to a Montezuma Brown 660 and so I may give it a try this weekend.

This may sound a bit odd, but my wife and I thought my 381v69 was reminiscent of a Tele with the bridge pickup on. Before I was corrected, I was hoping to get the same feel in a solid body design. It looks like the 660 may be a good candidate. Telecasters are very common, but how often do you see a 660 at a jam or gig?

Telecasters are very cool also, and they rock better than Ric's! I have one in chrome red. Every collection should have at least one Ric-6, one Ric-12, and one Tele as far as I'm concerned!

Say all you want as far I'm conerned. My collection isn't exclusively made up of Rickenbackers.

I myself would shoot for the 350....great body design.....different then most....looks more expensive then it is (although it is expensive....usually people are reminded that john lennon used something that resmebled it...325) The 660 has too wide a neck for me...I can relate playing it to playing a classical guitar (at least for me)

The 350 makes a better 6 string....the 660 makes a better 12 string. My opinion.

Sorry Steve, we all feel diferently, but Teles do NOT rock better than Rics. Teles are great gtrs, with plenty of tone & charachter, but if you can't get a Ric to 'rock' better, then you're not playing them right. My album 'Stupidly Cool', by my band 'The Rampant Carnivores' is rock & everything was Ric. I put some Tele on it at the beginning, but recorded over it as it was just too soft compared to the Rics.
It is fair to say though, that I do not play Rics as a lot of users do...I am extremely aggressive. Through a 100w Marshall head & 2 Marshall 4x12's, believe me....Rics rock!

Try any Ric through this & it'll eat a Tele for breakfast...

I guess for me, they do, but I appreciate your enthusiasm and position on this matter. Besides, I'm only a rocking drummer, I am not a rocking guitar player. I almost cry every time I see a black 360, because I don't have one - you rock, man.
