What's the connection - II
What's the connection - II
I'm gonna be kinda "plagiaristic" right now, but still, i'd like to continue Peter's game of "what's the connection between"... so, here it goes...
What's the connection between:
a) the Searchers and the Ramones (three at least, all quite obvious)
b) the Searchers and Creedence Clearwater Revival (two at least, quite obvious)
c) the Searchers and Love Affair (quite easy)
d) the Searchers and GreenDay
e) the Searchers and Britney Spears?

Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.
Let's start with the Searchers and Creedence. Both groups:
1. Used Rickenbacker guitars
2. Had a lead singer leave to form a new group.
3. Had the majority of their hits within a 3 year period.
4. Were guitar bands.

1. I didn't know Creedence used Rickenbackers... Number three.
2. Wwait... John Fogerty didn't form a new group! If you mean Blue Ridge Rangers, then it wasn't a group in the strict sense of the word. Its lineup was John Fogerty, John Fogerty, John Fogerty, etc.
3. Right you are (i didn't count, to be true). Number five.
4. The Searchers still "are"!!!!!!

As for Green Day and The Searchers, both groups have toured Australia.

Peter: and Asia, if i'm not mistaken. But here, the connection is a bit "thinner"...
Roy: number six. And both bands played Royal Albert Hall, if i'm not mistaken - number seven.
Anyway, the thing is my "connection" deal with bands' repertoires rather than technical questions, chart positions, etc. You see, many bands use Rickenbackers, and many bands tour Australia, and so on. For instance, Creedence, the Searchers, the Ramones and many other bands are quartets, and we can say there is a "connection" between the Searchers and Abba cause Abba was fronted by two girls, one of them was blonde, the other had dark hair... That's okay, that will do, but i'm actually speaking about the song connection.

My contributions:

Einar
Searchers amongst my teenage favourite music. Still fond of them, but earnestly a little puzzled they are considered THIS big! But I'm very excited about this forum, and will love to read it regularly, and also contribute!
"Creedence": Anything to do with "rain" songs? Both groups known for songs dealing with the environmental issue, using "rain" as a symbol.

A first rate answer for a rainy day, Einar. Good work. Let's she what Sheena says.

Einar:
Post #2: right but... errr... THAT'S MOST CERTAINLY NOT WHAT I WAS ASKING ABOUT!!!!
So, you've got both points for Creedence and one point out of three for the Ramones.
PS: Peter: here, in Russia, it's hot and sunny.

Roy: Almost saturday night was already mentioned by Einar. I'd add Rockin' all over the world (there's a rumor both songs mentioned were written when CCR was still a workin' band) and probably Jambalaya (not exactly CCR since it was actually recorded by J. Fogerty "only and alone", and it also appeared on the Searchers' Iron Door sessions).
As far as Love Affair is concerned, yes right but i actually meant some other connection. Kind of "personal" one...

Mmhummm... yes Roy they did but i've heard there was a guy who played with both bands at one time or another. Or might i got it wrong. Anyway, let it be the right answer...
...wonder who'll find the strict song connection 'tween the Searchers and GreenDay...
