......... if Rickenbacker will ever make Azureglo BURST available as an optional finish. In other words, just like a fireglo finish, only in azure. I think a 4003 would look OUTSTANDING in this finish, and I'm hoping John Hall will take a serious look into this. (hint-hint)

Ricnvolved: I think this would make a very striking instrument especially with a checkered binding. I find your suggestion to be most appealing one and when one looks to those finishes that have been popular in all makes of guitars, the "bursts" are up near the top.

I'd like to see Rickenbacker reissue the 4001 with checker binding and wide inlays, even if they were just the MOP, not the crushed pearl, which I've understood is really hard to recreate.
In addition, I agree with your assessment of bursts -- I find myself going back and forth between mapleglo and fireglo/autumnglo as my favorite Rick finish. I'd love to see the "old" autumnglo brought back, like is illustrated in the Smith book, sorta like a tobacco burst. Another 'burst idea I had was a burgundy burst...

This was called a "Cloudburst' in the spray booth .
I have done several , there is one major drawback to this finish .
The clear MUST stay 'water white' or else you end up with a green burst in a short period of time .
Arcylic Urethane seems to hold up 'water white' longer than anything else that I have seen .
Conversion Varnish varies , and nitro yellows instantly . Everything reacts to UV light , so even with UV inhibitors you will still have troubles .
BUT !!! look at PRS blue guitars ... they seem to hold up as blue extremely well .

I was looking at the PRS website the other day and that got me thinking about Ric finishes that would look good. 3 or 4 "burst" colour options would, in my opinion, lead to all of us probably shelling out for another Ric just to get a wild looking axe.
I can see it now - new colours will become available soon and I'll order my next Ric in one of them - leaving me still without the Jetglo that was my original first choice for a finish... I really should add that JG next to finish off the trifecta with my FG and MG.
