I thought putting some big holes in my bass would be cool, now I am having second thoughts.

Does anyone have experience fixing something like this?

You will of course have to paint it Jetglo, however, but it would look great like that. A 4005 and JG are a match made in heaven!

Why ?

Good luck with any planned restoration. It will cost no doubt, but would definitely be worth it. Just make sure the right person does it. If you get bored with the idea though, my offer is $20. That must be a fair deal ! Jeffrey I doubled your offer, you havent got a chance with a big spender like me on the scene.

I have a sneaky feeling that Mr. Minutaglio is messing with us.

Yeah Chris, Ted has this one right now and is working on it. I think John is pulling all your legs and having a little fun. I think he got it like that.

Ted doesn't have this one, he has the FG one and is working on that. I have this one, and my other one.

I've decided the holes are indeed cool.

I should have been clearer - I was asking for help fixing the bridge, which I put on backwards. It was an honest mistake...

Ok, sorry for playing around. Here are the real questions:
- I can fill the routes w/ maple. do I need to worry about reconstruction of the x-brace? I assume not. The top is fine now height-wise.
- What about the neck pickup - I don't think RIC sells a short-pole. I can look on eBay I guess - I'm not sure how to visually tell a 'real' short pole from a fake one - can anyone advise? What are thoughts about routing the neck for a long-pole?
- Again on pickups - can someone look at a '66-'68 4005 - is there a short pole in the neck and a long pole in the bridge? The '70s one I have to reference has a long-pole in both...
- Pickup question 3 - what would you think about humbuckers as pickups?

Thanks in advance.

John, when I come back from London a week from this Monday, I can come over and take apart my '66 4005 to check out the poles in the pickups, if you want. Let me know.
