Rubber pad?

Post by dannyboy »

OK guys, don't laugh at me... it's my first Ric bass and I have a question for you!
In front of the bridge, I noticed that in the slots, there's a kind of rubber pad that raises when you turn the large screws on each side.
What is that for??? I've never seen the like on my other basses!
Your answers please! Cheers Image

So, do you use it on and off or just adjust it in someway that fits you?
I use to mute with my wrist in some songs but noticed that it was not going to happen with the pickup cover in the way!

depends on your style of playing.

most guys don't use it. one "guy" removes it and puts a Jazz bass p'up in there!

Bartolini makes a pickup that mounts in there too.
