Nate, keep looking, you'll find your jetglo. They are popular because that is a beautiful, classic finish. Rickenbacker has Jetglo as a standard color, so you should find them popping up for sale soon.

He has a Jetglo 4004 CII. Dunno how that would sound. Anyone know of any other good online Ric dealers?

Nate, can't you order one from Musician's Friend or Music123.com or somewhere like that? If it is a standard color, they usually have some in stock.

True. True. Music123 won't have one til Agust and Musicians friend won't have one til next month sometime. 123 is cheaper than Parks by 3 bucks! Doesn't matter. I have to sell my 4001 before I can get the 4003. No, I don't have enough money to keep both.

buy a used 90's 4003 off of ebay ... they usually go for $800 to $900 ... the 4004 is a nice bass ... with a few changes to the wiring it becomes an awesome bass ...

Nate, go for the shadow, they are quite rare, despite the fact that there were three of them at the Confluence!

I asked Chris the price for it. I saw one on the 'bay before I got my first Rick. It was listed as a "Black Beauty". I wanted it. I think is sold for $2000? Crazy. If I get one it might be the only one down here! At least I think it would be.

stock from the factory a 4004 is a little darker sounding than the 4003 ... the pickups are wound to about 15k ohms and they are series humbuckers ... so it is a little p-bass and a little 4003 and a lot its own sound ... I rewired my 4004L ... I took out the toggle and added 2 1000k ohm volume pots and a 500k ohm tone pot wired like a jazz bass ... that bass now has a wide open treble bite with a good bottom ... I can very easily get Chris Squire tone out of that bass now ... and it is hot ... it is loud like an active bass ... but no batteries ... the 4003 still has that single coil tone ... so it sounds different than the 4004 ...

I was just wondering if there was some way to mess with the electronics to get it to sound like a 4003.

If you want it to sound like a 4003, I'd hold out for a 4003. I have a Cheyenne and while its a great bass, it sounds different from my 4003/4001's.
