Ebay IDs. Should we know who is who? Your opinion?

Post by leftyguitars »

Would it be a good idea to know fellow forum members Ebay identities? Maybe have a secure members list (Peter?). I know that some of us know who some others are, but are we bumping prices up by bidding against each other without knowing it? A list would help us to know who was bidding on an item and (possibly) help keep prices sensible.

Your thoughts welcomed....

In my opinion that can only lead to hard feelings. I think it best to keep the two separate.

Chris - just to update my records, please could you enter your password and bank details..............just kidding. I don't have a problem with it. Good idea Peter. I don't like to push the bids up against other forum members. As I've said before, a little communication can save us all a lot of money...............byrdman289

You'll see it more in the vintage and antique Harley Davidson auctions though.

I did get my 4003 off eBay for good price.

I got my Trace Elliot stack off eBay too, for an amazingly low price, less than the amp alone was selling for locally. A pawn shop in Sacramento was selling it. Almost brand new, and not a mark on it.

Sometimes eBay is good, if you know what you're looking for and are careful.

Here's the caveat though. I always eSnipe my bids, so I won't know if I'm about to shaft anyone. A shout out in the bass forum that you are interested in an item would help to avoid that.
