put my 1986 4003 jetglo on ebay. Hoped to get $800 including the hard case. Two people, one from Iceland, bid up against each other in the last 15 minutes.

Winning bid? $1265! LOL

and yeah he paid me immediately.

boy, did I get lucky. What are some people thinking.

Is there anything particularly special about an '86?
Just wondering... I just bought an '86, for the color combo (maplego w/ black hardware) not because it was an '86, and I haven't received it yet.
Thanks

nothing special I know of! this guy wanted this one pretty bad - curiously, there was another one up there that had a $900 minimum, and no bids. Hey, my gain! it's a great guitar, but not worth $1265

why do people pay that much for a used 4003 when they can get a brand new one for about $1100 from musician's friend or music 123????

$1100? When I was looking for my Laredo a dinguss at a local store said their other store had a 4004, so I hauled a$$ through rush hour traffic to get to the other location.

It was a nice MG 4003, on sale for I think $949. With tax it would have be a bit closer to a grand.

But I agree, the prices some pay seem odd. Overseas folk, I can understand, but here in the USA? I guess the GAS gets to their heads.

If I could get any clean Rickenbacker basses for $1100 here in the UK I would buy the lot! (Especially any lefty ones!). The going price for a good used lefty 4003 is around $2000 here, and righty ones aren't that far behind!.
