Epiphone 'Jack Casady' signature bass

Post by scottpro1969 »

Has anyone played one of these?? I was watching the John Fogerty "Premonition" dvd (which is awesome, by the way) and his bass player played one on quite a few songs. It really sounded awesome.

Has anyone tried or own one of these?? I want a semi-hollow bodied bass and was considering the Viola since it's affordable but hearing the sound of this particular bass, I'm changing my mind. Really cool look to the Casady bass too.

I tried one out a while ago at Sam Ash, I was very impresed with it's sound, especially at the 250 setting where it sounded very much like a Rickenbacker, believe it or not! I was not quite as impressed with the construction, but not bad for the money.

Sorry, but it won't hold a candle to this, however:

...drools....I know Jeff, don't have to rub it in...lol. Just kidding. The 4005 is amazing, no doubt.

I checked out one of the Jack Cassidy's at a guitar shop in Oklahoma City a few years back. I didn't play it plugged in, but gave it a good lookover. I liked the light weight and the gold finish looked sharp. If you can find one for a real test drive, it might be worth it.

Those have gotten good reviews from just about everyone who has tried one at the Gibson forum over at the dudepit. There is a long thread there somewhere about them, Dave Westheimer is the moderator BTW, it's a very good and funny forum if you like Gibsons.

Bought this a couple weeks ago. I love hollow body basses but all mine are short-scale and I wanted a long-scale one. Too bad Ric won't make one.

Yeah those Lakeland's are nice but as you say...$$$. The Ibanez above was only $399.

Jeffrey... that Gold top is great. Where can I buy one?? haha.

I'll bet if Rickenbacker offered a new, limited run semi-hollow bass, say for a special company anniversary or something, they would sell out lightning fast.

Scott, it's got an interesting(in a good way)tone, good sustain and very clear yet "woody", with good bass and treble(with tone wide open). Every review I've read suggests replacing the stock rounds with flats, but I like it as is, and besides, I've got plenty of hollow-body basses with flats already. Here 'tis:

Are the necks on these on the chunky side Ronn?

I was reading the spec in my 2005 Ibanez catalog, and that's the impression that I came away with.

I've seen these in all the local guitar shops hanging on the wall, but always passed them by.
Next time i'll have to stop and check one out.
