74 Mapleglo 4001 value?

I had a show tonight and stopped at a local music store to pick up some strings and things. Any way I had to go into the back room where they keep the Basses. Low and behold they had a 74 mapleglo 4001 that looked to be in very nice shape. So I had to plug it in it sounded VERY nice and played well. The want alot less than the beat up one at GC. And sounded alot better to boot. My question is what is a fair price for one of these? What should I be looking for? They say that it comes with a case but I did not have time to look at it. I am seriously thinking of picking this one up. I could always sell the JG I have on order or keep both. Man I am jonesing bad I want a Rick bass and I want it now.

I have a 75 4001 Burgundy in Good/Excellent condition. I figure it's worth about $1200, and others have had roughly the same assesment.

It plays well, sounds good, looks good...the only thing to be sure of is that it's a real Rick and all-original. Ask to see under the pickguard and the TRC...replacement parts should be pretty obvious to spot in the flesh.

I just paid $1500.00 for a 74 4001 Burgundy .

The case and GTR were mint. It also had Grover tuners. (That were not falling apart……yet),

Hei Scott.

I have a 4001 1975 mapleglo. In Norway you must pay around $2000 for it if its in good condition. But everything is more expensive in Norway.

Look for serialnumber on the jack plate.

I paid about $850 US for mine not too long ago.
It's a '74 Mapleglo.It has a few dings,no real rash
on the back and the original parts that were replaced were included.The original Grover tuners
are in pretty bad shape but I hold on to them just in case someone needs a pice.The bridge has lifted a little but after having a good look it's really not too much of a concern right now.After playing a '76 jazz for so long it was a nice change.I don't think you could go wrong for the right price.
