Don't Hide It Away

Post by admin »

I took The Searchers 30th Anniversary Collection with me during my travels out of town yesterday and was particularly taken by the McNally/Pender/Allen composition and recording "Don't Hide It Away." I was taken by this song in a minor key which seems to have been released in the UK as the B Side to "Take It Or Leave It" in April 1966. The A Side only realized the 31st position in the charts. Still it is a really interesting song with a slight "Zombies" feel, the group not the movie. I was taken by the piano which reminded me of the Zombies to some extent. I am wondering it anyone reading this list has additional information with regard to this track.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I would list this as one of my favourite Searchers tracks, I suspect Tony Hatch played a big part in the production of the track and probably plays the lilting piano.

Thanks Roy. I don't know why I have not listened more closely to this song before.
