450/12 Kluson question

I picked up this old 450/12 and it's had a set of the Klusons replaced with a newer set. The problem is that the shaft of the tuners extend too deep into the headstock on the high side and it makes it very difficult to string. The body of the tuner is also thicker than the originals and the buttons on the standard set contact the body of the additional tuners in a couple of places. It's useable as is but does anyone have an idea on which model of a replacement tuner would work for a replacement in the near future? The newer set may be slotted instead of having holes in the peg but I don't know if that would affect the body size. Hopefully my pictures will upload.

Use Gotoh vintage tuners. The new Klusons are garbage. Old Klusons were made here in Chicago, but the name was sold. They are now made by a new company (European, I believe) and they are not the same size as old Klusons. Most of the guitar companies use Gotoh on there reissues.
Stew-Mac sells them cheap, here a link:

Thanks guys,
I checked the Elderly website for them and they're $28 so the extra $5 will cover shipping.

Dale, I figured you got the "guitar master" discount, which is well deserved.

My local guitar shop sells Allparts. He discounts them about 40% and there is no shipping. You may just find them local. Although for about $10 in gas I can drive round trip to Elderly and have fun time while I'm there. Well worth the extra $5.

I'm about $20 away from Elderly so it makes it a tough decision when I can have them shipped. It all depends on how long it's been since I was there

Jeff,
We are not that far apart I'm in the Union Lake area. You should give Motor City Guitar (Waterford) a call and see how much they will get them for.
