Most rare and most sought after Ricks

Post by rkbsound »

I'm just curious about opinions regarding the rarist and most sought after Ricks. Which Ricks are hardest to find? Which existing ones would fill the ideal collection?

A factory-equipped or factory-retrofitted 370/12Byrd.
I also like pre-1972 left-handed instruments; but the pre-Beatles period is really cool. Anything 1954-1963.
Factory Samples, prototypes.

All 1963-1973 4001's and 1964 - 69 export 4001S Basses. Basically, all vintage Rickenbacker basses with the original Horseshoe pickup.

Any "Lightshow" guitar (or especially the 4005LS bass) would be a find and a half. I think they only made about half a dozen of the basses.

My personal lust is for a '57 4000 bass. I would take out a loan to buy one. Does anyone know how many of these were made?

I'd go for any one of the "B" vintage series or the same ones from the Beatles era! Image

I would go for a greenburst 360/12. This has to be one of the more unique finishes that RIC has used over the years. Dan, just in passing, I am in Tadoussac for the next several days. Want to jam?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
