RICKENCOUNTER OF THE FIRST KIND
The remodel of my workshop and office is nearing completion this week, after a month of being displaced...
While the carpenters, drywall guys, painters, electricians, and other tradesmen were doing their thing, I decided to make a counter for the pass-through between my secretary's office and my own.

My inspiration was my 660-12 and its beautiful Montezuma Brown finish with (of course) its trademark checkerboard binding. The rounded portion is in my office.

The cool streamlined pencil sharpener is a replica of a 1936 Raymond Loewy design, made by David Melvin, one of my instructors, from a sketch I gave him.

The ties that bind, Paul. Nicely done.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Thanks, Peter...
It was last year's Counter COY, Joe. Yellowed binding was standard.

I tried tuning it, Paul, but it's still real flat...
Aitch, the toughest part was finding the 2" thick checkerboard binding...
...and bending it.

Aitch, the counter is flat (as I've already noted), but the pencil sharpener is...
...chrome.

If there is a possibility of making a "Receptionists' Counter" for the RIC offices, wouldn't it make more sense to make that counter in the shape of a Rickenbacker headstock, complete with a simulated "TRC" inlaid into the surface?
That kind of reception area feature would be a knock-out IMO!

My first bass was a Rickenbacker...
My best bass is a Rickenbacker...
My last bass may very well be a Rickenbacker
