Awsome show!
Chris Squire's bass solo (w/Alan White on drums)was worth the price of admission alone!
They did a medley of The Fish/Tempes Fugit/Silent Wings/Sound Chaser.
LOVE THAT RIC TONE!!!

I can not f***ing wait. They're playing here(Austin,Texas)Friday. Been a fan since "Time and a Word", but have never seen them.

So the band is the 1972 edition again? Just 5 of them?I remember seeing them in 'early '74 just before "Topographic Oceans" came out, and I was absolutely Stunned by them!! I'd been listening to the live "Yessongs"triple LP for months before that, and I could not conceive how Anyone could possibly be Better than that record[BTW, I regard that LPset as one of THE definitive Live recordings of that time..]but Yes called my bluff and made Yessongs look like s---!!!Of course, These days Wakeman probably isn't using Mellotrons and Moogs anymore.Was there still a Hammond in his setup? or is he totally outfitted with contemporary gear?

Don, It's their GREATEST line up:Anderson,Howe,Squire,Wakeman & White.
Wakeman was using contemporary gear from what i could tell, but hey, I was watching Squire!
Nigel and Gene,Just wait 'till you hear that Squire(RIC) solo!(with White)

hey guys-

Squire was on top! He was just spectacular. Wakemen was great too. He has mostly contemporary gear, but plays a mini-moog that's mounted above his keyboards. That sucker really cut through during his solos!

Saw Yes at The Backyard, Austin,Texas under the trees/stars. It was great. Squire was all over the stage, stomping and spinning. Basses used: THE Ric, Lakeland(Bob Glaub)P-bass, Wal 3-neck. "South Side of the Sky" was probably my fave. For Elvis's deathday they played Heartbreak Hotel.After which Squire said, "I bet you didn't think we could do that".

Sorry, forgot to mention Squire's amp set-up.
2 Ampeg 8X10 cabs with one speaker miced. What looked to be a wedge monitor atop each Ampeg. Marshall 4X12 cab next to Ampegs, Energy 2X15 cab sitting atop Marshall cab. No heads in sight.

…and last nite was my Yes Nite!

Witnessed the identical rig of which Nigel spoke, I think those SVT boxes were what they call "SVT-AV" Anniversary Models, which would mean that they're new units.

Now, I saw them in Dallas, at the Smirnoff Music Center, the former Coca-Cola Starplex (Spin The Who's "Coke after Coke after Coke…" in the background-heheheh), ANYWAY, I was impressed with the way Chris did not use a pick at all times- a revelation to me, popped notes here and there, played chords in ways much like my own style of playing (Great Minds Think ALIKE!!)…

But that Captain Kangaroo hair, now…

I was at the Dallas show too, and very impressed with the show they put on! All I can was "wow".
I was really impressed by Wakeman and how much he improved the show, although they seemed to have a couple of glitches (Like having to restart "Magnification"). I loved hearing "Southside of the Sky" for the first time, although I was a little bit disappointed that Squire played his Lakland on that one. To me that is a Rickenbacker song...
And yeah, that WAS Capt Kangaroo hair, I'm a little worried about Squire, he didn't look too good, although he played awesomely just like he usually does.
About his Amplifiers, I think I saw them in two big racks just behind Wakeman's Keyboards. I think the Marshall cabs are for the Taurus bass pedals...
So, After a Saturday night with Squire, Smirnoff tonight will be hosting Rush with an obsure bassist by the name of Geddy Lee...
Heckuva week for Dallas bass players, eh?

I believe Chris Squire uses Ampegs for the bass side, Marshalls for the treble side, and Energy cabs for the bass pedals. Check out http://www.chrissquire.com for more info and some pictures.
