E Bay Letter From FC Hall

Post by wints »

I know John pulls the fake stuff and rightly so, but this E Bay seller describing FC as a "rep" needs certain attention or at least informing the seller of proper respect!

What's wrong with that? F.C. Hall most certainly was a representative for the company, and at the time there was arguably nobody more representative of the company.

I was addressing the subject matter in a light hearted slant Jeff!

Technically, you are, of course correct.

Generally most people in F.C.'s position would probably have made known who he was in relation to the company when in correspondence.

This seller probably does not know the history of Rickenbacker, but I dare say the humility of F.C. in his letter has a lot to do with that.

I had a letter like that from F.C. Hall myself, from probably around 1981 when I inquired about getting a new bridge p/up cover for my '79 4001. I can't recall if I knew who he was at the time, I was only about 16 years old...but I DO know it was him that sent the letter; he thanked me for my interest in Rickenbackers and told me how much it would cost plus postage...it was a very nice letter.

I think Andrew was saying the Ebay guy doesn't realize that F.C. was the Head of RIC. He passes him off as a "rep".

Oh come on, I can't think of any bigger rep for a company than the (former) owner.

All I'll say is that my dad's involvement with this letter was limited to signing it.

some people will sell anything on ebay ... an old yellow piece of paper that has Rickenbacker letter head ...

is it worth the time to set up the auction, pay ebay fees, and answer emails to get $4.95?

I have one like this - same letterhead - written to Pat DiNizio, signed by FC.
