Warped neck on a bakelite model

I recently purchased a bakelite Ricky steel that sounds and plays great. Sighting down the neck, I noticed that is isn't straight like a regular guitar or dobro neck. The neck is perhaps 1/4" out of true. I assume this is normal for these models, but I be interested in hearing from anyone who can speak to this. Thanks- this is a great forum!

Is the neck actually bowed or are the strings just higher as you move away from the nut?
