Mystery guitar.....

Post by jwilli »

ok, who knows what this is? The upper horn has NOT been sanded down either. The finish has been stripped. Try and guess year too. No prizes, just want to know if you pay attention. :-)

I have no idea John!!! Looked through my books....it's probably something obvious & I'll kick myself, but somehow I doubt it!

Square heel makes it old, or a re-issue...I'll plump for old. A stab in the dark...an early combo....
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

425 sounds right (or it looks right),
circa '56.

Is that the 325-alike that was supposed to be given to John Lennon?

Did it come from a pallet of similar looking guitars? (lol) .....A fish tail 420? Looking at the fret board - it's certainly had some use......whatever it is?

Looks like one of those shreddin' Jackson guitars to me. Why would you ever strip off the black and green lightening finish? (Mine matches my Zoobas.) Let's see pics of the Floyd Rose on that sucker!

The only headstock I've seen closely resembling John's is a '57 Combo 850, but it still doesn't look quite the same. And the larger horn is to different.
